Is Firefox the next revolution? Wednesday July 28th

Get Firefox

For those of you who are wondering what is FireFox, well it’s a free and open-source web browser based on the Mozilla codebase. Euh? Still clueless? Then go take a look at this FAQ.

That said, are the browser wars back?

Well not quite, Internet Explorer still has 95% of the browser market share. But since virus like Download.Ject could now infect Internet Explorer users, there’s a lot of people thinking about alternative. I’m hearing more and more people around me running away from Internet Explorer or at least using it as their primary browser.

I for one tried to switch or let say installed it. The installation process is very simple and it retreive all the cookies and bookmarks from Internet Explorer to ease the user experience. Althought you have to install some plugins to have a fully multimedia experience, FireFox makes a good alternative.

FireFox have many other features and because of their small market share, hackers will be less willing to hack it. Rest assured that even if they did, the “Open Source” FireFox community is much faster to respond to vulnerabilities then Microsoft.

By the way if you’re also looking for an alternative E-Mail client take a look at Mozilla Thunderbird.
